When shall we see our Washington,
With righteous laws anew and just?
Yet still we see out the days to come,
For millions, not hundreds, are you.
Taras Shevchenko, 1857
Donald Trump
47th President of the United States of America
Dear Mr. President,
Please accept our heartfelt congratulations on your election as President of the United States.
On this occasion, we would like to extend our gratitude to you, Mr. President, for your years of efforts in support of Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty, as well as for your commitment to saving its citizens, who are being killed by the forces of the Russian Federation.
Your dedication to the principle of “peace through strength,” rooted in the vision of George Washington, resonates with the words of Taras Shevchenko, the greatest Ukrainian poet and even a prophet to his people, who longed for a “Washington” to bring justice to his land. We believe that only by rejecting any compromise with evil can true and lasting peace be achieved. History has shown that peace built on injustice yields only the illusion of stability.
We are confident that these efforts will serve not only the American people but also the entire democratic world.
With due respect,
Prof. Włodzimierz Mokry
